This is a supporting guide to our UNOde50 Brand Guide.

This guide covers how to verify the authenticity of UNOde50 jewellery — physical markers, material behaviour, and practical tests that distinguish genuine pieces from counterfeits.

Authentication Tests

Weight & Density

Genuine pieces are substantially heavier than they appear due to dense zinc-based casting alloy. A piece that feels light for its size is a primary indicator of inauthenticity.

Magnet Test

Genuine UNOde50 is non-magnetic. If a piece adheres to a magnet (especially neodymium), it indicates steel or iron core — not authentic construction.

The Padlock Emblem

Cast directly into the metal during lost-wax process — organic, slightly irregular texture. Counterfeits show overly sharp machine-stamped definition or porous surfaces.

Brand Stamping

Hand-drawn typographic character, consistent depth, predictable placement. Counterfeits use generic computer fonts at inconsistent depths.

Plating Quality Markers

The 15–20 micron silver plating creates a smooth, substantial finish with visible depth. Counterfeit indicators include:

  • Visible base metal at edges, clasps, and textured peaks on new pieces
  • Uneven colour suggesting inconsistent plating thickness
  • Peeling or flaking on new or lightly worn pieces
  • Lack of weight in the finish

Packaging & Documentation

  • Signature red pouches or boxes consistent across all retail channels worldwide
  • Warranty card dated and stamped by authorised retailer to activate 2-year guarantee
  • High-quality materials in packaging consistent with brand standards

Best Protection

No single test is definitive in isolation. The most reliable method of ensuring authenticity is purchasing through an authorised UNOde50 retailer like OD’s Jewellers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if UNOde50 is genuine?

Check weight (genuine pieces are heavy), magnet test (should be non-magnetic), padlock emblem quality (cast-integrated, not machine-stamped), brand stamping (hand-drawn font), and plating quality (smooth, substantial, no base metal showing).

Why is weight an authentication indicator?

Genuine UNOde50 uses a dense zinc-based casting alloy that is substantially heavier than common counterfeit materials like lightweight aluminium, plastic, or hollow brass.

Does UNOde50 have a hallmark?

UNOde50 is a plated product, not solid precious metal, so it does not carry traditional hallmarks like a 925 stamp. Authentication relies on physical markers: weight, padlock quality, brand stamping, and plating depth.
