Clogau Earrings
Clogau Earrings
Clogau earrings combine rare Welsh gold heritage with contemporary craftsmanship, delivering meaningful designs that stand apart from ordinary jewellery. Every qualifying pair contains a trace of Welsh gold from the historic St David’s mine in North Wales, giving each stud, drop, and hoop a direct link to over a century of royal tradition and national history.
The collection showcases iconic Tree of Life motifs, Celtic influences, daffodil details, and mixed-metal contrasts that bring warmth and brightness together. Crafted in sterling silver with rhodium plating, and in selected lines 9ct or 18ct gold enriched with Welsh gold, Clogau earrings offer durability, shine, and long-term wear—perfect for everyday styling or milestone gifting.

Welsh Gold Heritage & Royal Story
The foundation of every Clogau earring design is its connection to rare Welsh gold from the St David’s mine. Discovered in 1854 and commercially worked until 1911, the mine once produced the most significant domestic gold supply in the UK. After its permanent closure in 1998, the remaining stock became increasingly scarce, making its inclusion in modern jewellery both symbolic and highly sought after.
Welsh gold gained international recognition in 1923 when Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, later The Queen Mother, chose it for her wedding ring. Since then, the tradition has been continued by royal brides including Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Clogau earrings carry that same story of heritage and symbolism.
Craftsmanship, Metals & Stones
Clogau earrings are crafted using sterling silver with rhodium plating to enhance brightness and reduce tarnish. Fine jewellery designs use 9ct or 18ct gold enriched with a trace of Welsh gold. Mixed-metal styles—combining rose and white tones—create versatile earrings that pair seamlessly with both classic and modern wardrobes.
Many designs feature natural, conflict-free diamonds sourced under the Kimberley Process and World Diamond Council standards. Stones are often near-colourless with eye-clean clarity, while larger diamonds in premium collections include GIA certification. Natural gemstones and cultured pearls appear in selected styles for added colour and lustre.
Every qualifying earring is hallmarked with the Welsh Dragon and stamped “CG,” confirming the presence of authentic Welsh gold.
Design Codes & Styling
Clogau’s design DNA is rooted in Welsh storytelling and symbolism. Tree of Life® themes represent renewal and growth, Celtic motifs celebrate cultural roots, and daffodil details reference national identity. Pieces inspired by royal regalia connect contemporary earrings to historic ceremonies and traditions.
From delicate studs suitable for everyday wear to drop earrings for special occasions, the range offers wearable pieces with depth, history, and meaning. Mixed-metal finishes allow easy coordination with necklaces, bracelets, and rings from across the collection.
Care, Warranty & OD’s Aftercare
Rhodium-plated pieces benefit from periodic re-plating—typically every one to three years depending on wear—to maintain their bright white finish. Rose gold accents naturally deepen in tone over time, forming a warm patina. Clogau provides a two-year warranty when items are registered within 30 days, or a one-year standard warranty otherwise.
OD’s Jewellers supports all Clogau earrings with clean-and-check services, professional advice, and warranty coordination. Our team ensures each pair is maintained to the highest standard.
