Clogau Jewellery
Clogau Jewellery
Clogau jewellery brings together royal heritage, Welsh identity, and modern design in a way few brands can match. Every qualifying piece is enriched with a trace of rare Welsh gold from the historic St David's mine in North Wales, turning rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings into miniature heirlooms rather than simple fashion accessories.
From iconic Tree of Life motifs and Celtic-inspired detailing to mixed metal designs that combine warm rose tones with bright white finishes, Clogau pieces are designed to be worn, gifted, and eventually passed on. Whether you are marking an engagement, wedding, anniversary, or a once-in-a-decade milestone, the collection delivers that extra sense of meaning that comes from genuine provenance and finite gold reserves.

Welsh Gold Heritage & Royal Connections
Clogau's reputation is rooted in a single, powerful fact: its jewellery contains a trace of authentic Welsh gold sourced from the famous St David's mine in Bontddu, North Wales. Discovered in 1854 and commercially worked until 1911, this mine became the UK's most prolific domestic gold source and the foundation of Clogau's story. Even after the mine's closure in 1998, carefully stewarded stockpiles have ensured Welsh gold continues to appear in contemporary designs.
The brand's cultural status was sealed in 1923 when Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, chose Welsh gold from the Clogau St David's mine for her wedding ring. That decision began an unbroken royal tradition: Welsh gold wedding rings have been worn by royal brides including Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
Design, Materials & Hallmarks
Clogau jewellery is built on precious metals and thoughtful construction. Sterling silver, often rhodium-plated for extra brightness, forms the backbone of many collections. Fine jewellery lines incorporate 9ct and 18ct gold enriched with the symbolic Welsh gold element that defines the brand.
Diamonds are natural and conflict-free, sourced under the Kimberley Process. Many pieces feature near-colourless stones with eye-clean clarity, while larger diamonds in the Compose bridal range are supported by GIA certification. Selected styles also use natural gemstones and cultured pearls.
Welsh gold authenticity is reinforced through hallmarking with the Welsh Dragon mark alongside the “CG” stamp.
Symbolism, Styling & Everyday Wear
Clogau's design language draws heavily on Welsh symbolism: Tree of Life motifs representing growth, Celtic patterns celebrating heritage, and pieces inspired by royal regalia referencing coronation and investiture traditions.
The range spans delicate everyday jewellery to statement occasion pieces. Mixed-metal finishes allow easy pairing with existing collections, while rings, bracelets, earrings and bangles can be layered to create personalised combinations.
Care, Warranty & OD's Service
Rhodium-plated silver and white gold pieces benefit from periodic re-plating every one to three years to maintain brightness. Rose gold naturally deepens over time, developing a warm patina. Warranty cover extends to two years when registered with Clogau within 30 days of purchase.
At OD's Jewellers, we assist with sizing, adjustments, clean-and-check appointments, and warranty coordination for all Clogau pieces.
